Nanostructured lipid carriers, formulations composed of natural lipids encapsulating essential oils in a stable and efficient way

Formulations based on structural and bioactive lipid matrices such as beeswax, palm, shea and cocoa butters

To develop natural compositions encapsulating essential oils with long-term stability is the main goal of several research areas. The problem is to keep the stability of the excipients and to allow the synergistic action of oils and nanoparticles. The researches from UNICAMP developed a new formulation, using nanostructured lipid carriers (NLC) composed of natural lipids such as beeswax, palm, shea, and cocoa butters stabilized by natural surfactants.

The new pharmaceutical form have multiple advantages over other formulations, by sustaining the release of these natural products with low toxicity to humans. Moreover, in the NLC composed of natural oils, the functional properties of excipients are extended to the formulation, explaining the anesthetic, bactericidal, antifungal and biopesticide actions observed, without the use of any synthetic, component.

MAIN BENEFITS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS INVENTION:

Long-term stability for encapsulation
Functional and stable bioactive formulations
Several Intrinsic therapeutic actions
