Preparing layered silicates, preferably sodium silicate kenyaite, involves performing reaction of silica source with strong base in alcoholic medium under magnetic stirring

NOVELTY – Layered silicates preparation involves performing reaction of a silica source with a strong base in an alcoholic medium under magnetic stirring at 10-150 degrees C, where the obtained material is calcined at 900-1000 degrees K for 3-10 hours. The obtained material is cooled rapidly at temperature lower than the room temperature. The cooled material is dried. USE – Method for preparing layered silicates (claimed), preferably sodium silicate kenyaite. ADVANTAGE – The layered silicates preparation method enables to prepare the layered silicates with improved crystallization property in short duration. The obtained product has high crystallinity and high porosity. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) – The drawing shows micrographs of sodium silicate kenyaite.

Main Application Field

E34 (Compounds of Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Fr.); L02 (Refractories, ceramics, cement – includes manufacturing methods, limes, soil preparation for (road) building, magnesias and slags, cements, mortars, concretes, abrasives, thermal or acoustic insulation (non)oxide ceramics and ceramic composites, but not brick making, concrete mixers or casting or potters’ wheels (C04).)
