NOVELTY – Extracting heparan sulfate involves separating the viscera of bivalve i.e. shellfish, fragmenting obtained viscera, immersing the fragments and then drying and incubating the dried tissue in a buffer solution. The obtained material is centrifuged to obtain precipitate. The precipitate is washed with cetylpyridinium chloride for 3 hours. The washed material is treated with 2% sodium chloride and 41% absolute ethanol. The obtained material is again centrifuged to obtain the desired product in precipitation fraction. USE – Method for extracting heparan sulfate. ADVANTAGE – The method enables to extract heparan sulfate efficiently.

Main Application Field

A96 (Medical, dental, veterinary, cosmetic.); B04 (Natural products and polymers. Including testing of body fluids (other than blood typing or cell counting), pharmaceuticals or veterinary compounds of unknown structure, testing of microorganisms for pathogenicity, testing of chemicals for mutagenicity or human toxicity and fermentative production of DNA or RNA. General compositions.); A11 (Polysaccharides; natural rubber; other natural polymers (only a restricted range of (modified) natural polymers are included. Thus starch would be excluded, but chemically modified starch included).)
