NOVELTY – Nanospheres comprise a polymeric wall coated with folate modified chitosan. USE – Nanospheres formulation used for chemotherapy for treating solid tumors, gastrointestinal tract carcinomas, preferably stomach, colon and rectum, and breast cancer, cervical cancer, ovary cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer and liver cancer and topical treatment of premalignant lesions of actinic keratosis and superficial basal cell carcinoma (claimed). Nanospheres formulation showed cytotoxic effect on ovarian tumor cells, tumor cells of P2y4 receptor of glioma cells, MCF7 breast tumor cells and tumor cells of lung cancer NCI-H1299 with maximum inhibitory concentration of 1.02 plus minus 0.40 mg/ml, 4.33 plus minus 0.62 g/ml, 9.47 plus minus 0.75 mg/ml and 1.28 plus minus 0.08 mg/ml, respectively. ADVANTAGE – Nanospheres formulation has improved targeting of action sites, bioadhesion and biocompatibility with less toxicity.
