NOVELTY – The immobilization process of serratia rubidaea CCT5732 in mixed oxide of silicium-titanium involves the addition of 12.1 ml of solution of HNNO3 0.85 mol L-1 in a solution of 123 ml of ethanol and 123 ml of tetraethylorthosilicate, leaving this solution under reflow and stirring for 2.5 h at a temperature of 80 degrees C. USE – For the immobilization of serratia rubidaea CCT5732. DETAILED DESCRIPTION – To the solution 487 ml of ethanol and 34 ml of tetrabutoxide of titanium (IV) are added. The mixture is stirred for more than 2 h at ambient temperature. 66.4 ml of solution of HNO3 0.6 mol L-1 are added slowly and the product is left at rest to gelatinize. The gel formed is broken and placed in a stove at 110 degrees C for 24 hours. The product is then ground and sifted in a sieve of 250-75 micrometers. This permits the selectio of particles of 250-75 micrometers. In another phase of the process, the initial binary mixture is washed with an aqueous solutio of nitric acid 1 mol L-1, and then with bi-distilled water. It is the dried in a stove at 60 degrees C for 24 h, the excess of water being withdrawn in a vacuum line (10-5 torr) and for elimination of organic material the matrix is calcified at 400 degrees C with a flow of air.
