NOVELTY – An aluminum phosphate composition comprises aluminum phosphate, aluminum polyphosphate, and/or aluminum metaphosphate. It includes particles and at least some of the particles, when in powder form, have an average of closed void(s) per particle. When in powder form, the composition exhibits two endothermic peaks in Differential Scanning Calorimetry of 90-250degreesC; and having a dispersibility in water of at least 0.025 g/1 g water. USE – The composition is used as pigments in paints (e.g. house acrylic paints), plastics, varnishes, or printing inks (claimed). ADVANTAGE – The composition can be manufactured with relative ease. It avoids environmental and toxicological problems. It allows uniform paint dispersions. DETAILED DESCRIPTION – INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) a paint, varnish, lacquer, printing ink or plastic, comprising solvent and the inventive composition as an ingredient; and (2) a method of making a paint, comprising combining a solvent and the inventive composition.
