Production of amino alcohols for antibiotics consists of five stage synthesis of e.g. chloramphenicol in a catalytic process

NOVELTY – The production of amino alcohols for antibiotics comprises five-stage processing for synthesis of chloramphenicol, fluoroamphenicol and thiamphenicol. Also claimed is a process using the products. The process uses catalyst (DABCO) for production of two stereochemical centres of the antibiotic, and preparation of enantiomerically pure products. USE – In industrial chemistry.
