NOVELTY – The production of intermediates for e.g. fluoxetine synthesis has asymmetric catalytic reduction via oxazaborolidinee of (+) and (-)-3-exo-amino-7,7-dimethoxynorboman-2-exo-ol. 3-chloro-1-phenyl-1-propanol enriched enantiomerically on recrystallisation in hexane yields the alcohol in 98 per cent enantiomeric excess.
