Assistive device for man-machine interface for use by disabled people to control e.g. motorized wheelchairs, has microcontroller, power source, LEDs, resistors, crystals, capacitors and relay that are arranged in control system
NOVELTY – The device has a single sensor (9) i.e. piezoelectric sensor, an LM2904 and LM324 amplifier (10), a power source (12) i.e. 24 volt (V) battery, a LM7812 and LM7805 voltage regulator (3), LEDs (5), resistors (14) and trimpots (11) that are arranged in a detection system. A PIC16F877 microcontroller (1), the power source, the LED, the resistor, crystals (7), capacitors (6) and a relay (8) are arranged in a control system. The sensor is provided with a button or switch. The control system is replaced by an on-board computer or a field programmable gate array (FPGA). USE – Assistive device for a man-machine interface for use by disabled people to control various devices such as motorized wheelchairs, computers, robots. ADVANTAGE – The sensor is fixed on a forehead of a user with strip or any other muscles, so that the user enables reading of sensor signals generated by movements of the muscles of eyebrow or any other muscles in an effective manner. The device ensures that medicinal drugs can be prepared by effective investigative methods in cost effective manner. The device is light and strong to use, high in working precision and inexpensive. The device can increase percentage of world population by making necessary improvements and development of fields that help people with disabilities. The device improves quality of life of individuals with functional limitations in physical, sensory or psychological effects, thus increasing functional capabilities to individual and promoting a life less dependent and social inclusion. DETAILED DESCRIPTION – An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a method for reading and detection of small muscle contractions in an assistive device to control various devices such as motorized wheelchairs, computers, and robots. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) – The drawing shows a circuit diagram of an assistive device. PIC16F877 microcontroller (1) LM7812 and LM7805 voltage regulator (3) LEDs (5) Capacitors (6) Crystals (7) Relay (8) Single sensor (9) LM2904 and LM324 amplifier (10) Trimpots (11) Power source (12) Resistors (14)
